Citric Dry Acid Crystals 500g

NON-TOXIC bio-degradable non-ferrous pickle (monohydrate) - 500g *Active when ADDED to distilled water. Needs to be stored in a glass or ceramic container. Works quicker when warmed (NEVER BOIL) e.g. in dedicated pickle-pot or Crockpot-type soup warmer. Can be neutralised with bicarb soda for safe disposal.

Use 1 part citric acid to 5-7 parts distilled water, depending on strength required.
Usage
Use for removing flux, oxides and firescale from copper, brass, silver and gold.
Always add the citric acid to water, NOT the water to the citric acid.
Use distilled water to prevent the growth of micro-organisms.
Use a glass (pyrex) or glazed ceramic container with a lid to stop evaporation.
The solution will be faster acting when warm but do not over heat as this can cause excessive
vapourisation which can damage the lungs over the long term.
Can take a little longer than other pickles but is just as effective.
The solution can be neutralised with bicarb soda.
Disposal
When the solution becomes ineffective it should be disposed of through your local council as
hazardous waste. This is not due to the citric acid itself but the copper which the solution has
become saturated with and can cause problems with sewer treatment facilities.
